Faculty of Education, University of Maribor at an international event on digitalisation in early childhood education

Professors from the Faculty of Education at the University of Maribor involved in the RINKO project are actively participating in the international Peer Learning Activity (PLA) dedicated to digitalisation in early childhood education and care.

On 21 October 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr Darja Antolin Drešar from the Department of Preschool Education presented examples of good practice and research findings developed within the RINKO project, which focuses on fostering digital competences in early childhood. The event was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr Marta Licardo and Senior Lecturer Ana Tina Jurgec, both from the same department.

The PLA, organised by the European Commission and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Slovenia, brings together experts from across Europe to explore solutions and ideas for effectively integrating digital tools into educational processes. Participants discuss the impact of technology on children, educators, and parents, the importance of digital literacy education, and the balance between children’s digital and real-world experiences.

The event also includes visits to kindergartens across Slovenia, where successful examples of integrating digital approaches into educational practice are presented. Through its involvement, the Faculty of Education at the University of Maribor actively contributes to developing innovative, research-based approaches in early childhood education and to creating European guidelines for high-quality digital education.
