Creative Training for Educators

On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, we carried out an inspiring professional training for educators entitled “Playful Learning of Fundamental Computer Science Knowledge in Kindergarten.” The event was organized by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the Faculty of Education of the University of Maribor, and was hosted by the Kindergarten Boris Peče Maribor.

The professional meeting began with a presentation of the kindergarten by the principal Mateja Komel, followed by inspiring examples of good practices presented by the kindergarten’s staff, showing how to introduce fundamental computer science knowledge into preschool settings. Two additional presentations followed – the first focused on topics of data and computer networks adapted for the youngest children, while the second highlighted the use of reels as a modern and effective way of transferring knowledge.

In the practical part of the training, participants engaged in three workshops. In the first, they explored sorting and analyzing data using diagrams; in the second, they examined how to explain the functioning of computer networks to children in an understandable way; and the third was dedicated to creating reels to share good practice examples on social media with a wider audience.

The event was marked by a great deal of practical work, collaboration, and creativity.

A heartfelt thank you to the Boris Pečeta Kindergarten for their hospitality, and to all participants for their dedicated and active involvement!
