On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, the introductory meeting of the RINKO project – Development of Fundamental Computer Science Knowledge in Kindergartens – took place at UM FERI, where UM FERI acts as the project coordinator.
In addition to UM FERI, the meeting was attended by representatives of UM PEF, who designed the content part of the project, and representatives of ten Slovenian kindergartens involved in the project: Kindergarten Murska Sobota, Vransko–Tabor Elementary School – Kindergarten Unit, Kindergarten Jožica Flander, Ormož Educational Institution Kindergarten, Kindergarten Pedenjped Novo mesto, Kindergarten Jelka, Kindergarten Manko Golar Gornja Radgona, Kindergarten Škofja Loka, Kindergarten Boris Peče, and Kindergarten Laško .
The RINKO project will contribute to the development of fundamental computer science knowledge (CS) in preschool education, enable the early introduction of CS, and ensure that children are prepared from an early age for the challenges of today’s digital society.
At the introductory meeting, after the presentation of partners, we thoroughly examined and presented the planned course of the project, work packages, expected results, and project organization, during which we defined working groups. Kindergarten representatives highlighted specific challenges they face when introducing fundamental computer science knowledge into their programs. The project logo and a preliminary dissemination plan were also presented.
